Everyone experiences conflict sometime.
Do conflict better was, for many years, the tag line on my website conflictcompetence.com. Then, I shifted focus to research, writing and teaching strategies to develop conflict competencies. I enjoyed an active practice doing conflict management, and now I really enjoy writing about it.
Conflict Competence is the ability and attitude to use the knowledge and skills you already have, even in stressful conflict situations.
When you are conflict competent conflicts still arise. The difference is, you’re equipped to handle the stress better, have more control over your reactions in volatile situations, and reduce conflict’s negative effects.
Through competently managed conflicts we learn, grow and develop, which are often unexpected but positive outcomes of a conflict experience.
